Presenting The World’s Smallest 64GB Sold State Drive From Sandisk
One of the foremost names in computer peripherals, Sandisk, has now announced the launch of the world's smallest solid state drive, that looks like a chip at the first look. The all new Sandisk integrated sold state drive or iSSD has been designed and developed to be used in tablet devices and ultra slim laptops and this incredible iSSD is available in storage capacities of 4GB to 64GB.
The all new iSSD weighs a mere one gram and the device is more than capable of astounding performance with a 160MB per second read time and 100MB per second write time. The iSSD is currently available for the OEMs for sampling purposes and the device itself uses a BGA form factor and a SATA interface. The iSSD is said to be completely compatible with all current generation operating systems and as this nifty little device has no moving parts involved in its design, therefore, the iSSD is more than perfect for the mobile devices, that are prone to rough handling by the users.
According to Jeff Janukowicz, (Research Manager, SSD, IDC),
"The ultra-thin tablet and mobile computer markets are expected to experience tremendous growth over the coming years, and new advanced platforms will introduce new requirements for storage solutions. New embedded SSDs such as the SanDisk iSSD drive, which meet the stringent size requirements of small and light devices while offering greater performance, are designed to enable OEMs to deliver an enhanced user experience in their next-generation designs.”
