Infant mortality rates are relatively higher in developing countries as compared to the developed ones. One of the reasons cited for this is substandard healthcare and lack of necessary faculties for both the new born and the mother. Here is an infant care device called Embrace, an instant warmer for the crucial hours when a premature newborn is put in incubation.
The infant warmer uses hot water to get its ideal temperature of 37-38 degrees Celsius. The infant is then wrapped up right to make sure that they stay warm. It is known to show results in just 4 hours and hopes reduce infant mortality rates in poor countries. It has been tested successfully on an infant girl named Nisha in India who was born with a body temperature lower than that of her twin brother.
The manufacturers are planning subject Embrace warmers to mass production and make available across the globe for a price of $25. Well, it's a noble venture and we hope both developing and third world countries benefit out of this device.
